Trash2Loo 1.2 (I modified the icons some so's they look even cooler)
"Bop it on the head and flush it down the Loo." -MP
Haven't you ever wanted to change that silly trash can into something a little more interesting? But the typical replacement gag is a toilet. While amusing, the thought of saying "toilet" to oneself even occasionally seems to be in rather coarse taste. Well, why not take a hint from our ever tactful British friends and call it a loo instead. We can even say it with a British accent when we pronounce it to ourselves, as this lends to the amusement. (By the way, haven't you ever wondered why the Brits don't just crack themselves up talking to each other?)
The loo icons were created by yours truly, with original inspiration from the BEROL RapiDesign(R) Sampler which was packaged with ClarisCAD (sadly deceased). The Loo makes a very handsome addition to the lower right hand corner of any Macintosh.
To make your Mac even happier, get SoundMaster by Bruce Tomlin (shareware at the InfoMac archives) and have it play the flush sound (glad no one saw me wheeling my Mac into (or out of) the men's john) when the Loo is flushed. Ho, ho.
The following files should be included in this folder:
Read Me to Install - This document
Paste me into the Finder Please - Replaces all Finder resources that refer to the
Trash with ones that say Loo
Paste me into System (or Aaron) - Loo icons, and a resource that renames the Trash
(Loo)
Flush - System 7 sound file which faithfully duplicates the sound of an actual loo sending
little scatalogical ones and zeros on their way (to somewhere). Guaranteed to please,
down to the little glug glug at the end.
Instructions on how to install the Loo messages:
(I) Open "Paste me into the Finder Please" with ResEdit.
(II) Select all the resources and copy them to the Clipboard (†-A and †-C).
(III) Open a copy of your Finder with ResEdit.
(IV) Hit †-V to Paste the resources into your copy of the Finder.
(V) Click "Yes" when prompted with the dialog box.
Instructions on how to install the Loo icons, and rename the Trash:
(I) Same thing, exept this time you open "Paste into System (or Aaron)" with ResEdit.
(II) Copy all the resources to the Clipboard, as before.
(III) Open a copy of your System (or a copy of the Aaron extension) with ResEdit.
(IV) Paste the resources into your copy of the file.
(V) Click "Yes" when prompted with the dialog box.
Now, any time you go messing around with the system software, you'd better have a boot disk on hand just in case you screw things up. Now, place your old Finder and System (or Aaron) in the trash, but don't empty it in case you need them back. When you do this, the icons on some of the folders inside your System Folder (like the Apple Menu Items, Control Panels, etc.) will be replaced with generic folder icons. Rename your modified copies to simply Finder and System (or Aaron) and put them in the System Folder where they go. After this, your Apple Menu Items and Control Panels etc. folders should pop back to normal. Then just restart your Mac, and be happy.
